Django Amsterdam Festival

  • Bimhuis Amsterdam (map)

For this concert Christiaan van Hemert took inspiration from the legendary 1949 Rome recordings by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. These sessions ended up being their last official collaboration and shows the two musicians in rare form. The recording is also famous for featuring the tasteful piano playing of Italian pianist Gianni Safred.

The Christiaan van Hemert Quartet will be playing selections and arrangements from this repertoire while bringing new elements to it with the sound of a warm archtop jazz guitar and virtuoso piano playing. One thing that will remain though is the irresistable swing that is synonymous with Django Reinhardt's music!

Line-up:
Christiaan van Hemert - violin
Alban Claret - electric guitar
Vytautas Straižys - piano
Arnoud van den Berg - double bass
